The flower trail to Ansätten

The flower trail is a waymarked walking trail from the village Bakvattnet to the mountain top of Ansätten.

25 white painted and numbered marker posts indicate selected plants of interest. Description of these plants are found in a brochure which can be bought at the Tourist office in Krokom, at Fjällbjörken design and Ewas Pensionat in Bakvattnet or at the beginning of the trail.

The main area is composed of open mountain, mountain birch forest, a rich variety of bogs of northern scandinavian type, spruce forest and pasture, ca 80 sqkm.

The trail is approximately 7 km long (14 km returning) and is relatively easy to walk. Bog areas along the trail have a wooden alkway to protect the underlying vegatation and facilitate access, despite this rubber boots or other waterproof and suitable footwear are recommended. Halfway along the trail is a rest area and windshelter with access to a stream with good drinking water.

On Ansätten and its surrounding area are at least 405 registered plant species (autumn 2014). You don't have to be a botanist to enjoy the wonder of wild plants! Both mountain sides and bogs are so abundant with flowers, it is sometimes difficult to know where to place your feet next. Both weather and time of year can determine when flowering occurs.

Guided tours are offered during summer.
